The subject chosen by Margaret Mills this week was an Essex author, apparently famous in his day who rejoiced in the name of HENRY DE VERE STACKPOLE.
He ought to have been famous just for his name, but his most well known book was THE BLUE LAGOON, which was made into a film well after the author was walking on this earth.
However he developed a friendship with a man who is far better known these days, none other than HG WELLS.
