Curveballs 30th March 2022 (with Lady Grey & The Earls and Lee David Carter)

It is hard to believe, but this week marks 15 years since the first live edition of Curveballs arrived on Phoenix FM. On the one hand it’s gone quickly, on the other, the days when I used to encourage bands to message me on Myspace definitely do not feel like yesterday!

First up tonight, just ahead of Transgender Day of Visibility, I chatted once again to author, activist and performer Lee David Carter. Since joining us last year, Lee has published his second book, Transmangelic, and continued work on his upcoming TV documentary – which will be broadcast later this year – about his life experience as a trans man. We also discussed how his writing has progressed since his first book Living with Lisa and his involvement in the upcoming Clacton Pride event on July 2nd. Find all his social media and book links at www.leedavidcarter.com.

Next up, well, we couldn’t have our 15th anniversary celebrations without an appearance from our most frequent guests, Lady Grey & The Earls! (L-R Justin, Alli, Amy, Graham) The foursome have just released a new concert video, and are currently planning more live dates and the recording of their next album. I had a surprise for them tonight in the form of a session track from their very first appearance on the show back in March 2009 (the reaction was priceless), and they also had a nice surprise for me to mark 15 years. Find them on Bandcamp, Facebook and Twitter.
