During this week’s show we saw Leyton Orient continue their superb turnaround in form, a 2-0 win at home to Barrow in EFL League Two further easing any remaining fears of relegation for the East Londoners.
But it wasn’t such a good day for our two local National League sides.
Dagenham & Redbridge’s hopes of forcing their way back into play-off contention suffered a blow with a 2-1 defeat away to fellow top seven hopefuls Grimsby Town, whilst Southend United also lost on the road, hosts Yeovil Town scoring twice in the opening nine minutes to consign Kevin Maher’s men to a 2-0 loss.
Our featured match of the day was in the National League South, where Billericay Town continued their attempt at a ‘great escape’ with a 2-2 draw at Havant & Waterlooville witnessed by our reporting team of Leigh and Andy.
Jody Brown’s side moved off the foot of the table and therefore out of the relegation zone, with Welling United – not in action on Saturday – dropping to the foot of the table.
Just above both of those sides are Chelmsford City, who are in big trouble with their 2-0 reversal against Hungerford Town at Melbourne Park being their seventh NLS defeat in a row.
