Lost On The Way – raising awareness of missing people

Musician Mathias Brandt from Wolfsburg, Germany has been in touch with us to talk about his new project, Lost On The Way. Mathias says:

The names and faces of missing people around the world are countless.

The country with the highest rate of missing adult migrants is Mexico. Around 72,000 people are missing – this is like the whole of Brentwood gone.

The leader of missing children is India – around 100,000 children are vanishing each year, most caught by professional criminal gangs.

The most famous missing child ever was Etan Patz. He was the first child whose face was printed on a milk carton at the beginning of the 80s in the United States. The case was solved in 2017 with DNA analysis – he was killed on the day he vanished.

In England around 170,000 people are reported missing each year but luckily nine of ten cases are solved within a few days. For the ones who never got found, German musician Matulla has set up a melancholic song, “Missing In The Neighborhood” with his internet band “Lost On The Way”, a project which has gathered over 100 musicians from around the world.

The vocals on this song were performed by Susan Olmos, a musical teacher from Mountain Lake Terrace in Washington.

The song is dedicated to the ones gone without a trace. The video includes 20 recent missing people from the London area. If you are one of them or you have seen one of them please call 116 000.
