Careful what you plant – and what you drink!

It’s the last day of February so we can hopefully start looking forward to brighter, warmer days ahead.

With that in mind many of us could find ourselves heading back to garden centres on weekends.

But there’s just a word of warning, don’t be tempted to buy and plant bamboo as it can cause thousands of pounds of damage to properties and gardens.

A house owner in Hampshire used bamboo to create a border between his property and the house next door, but the plant managed to travel across the boundary, under the concrete ground under the neighbour’s four-bedroom house before bursting through the floor.

Even with the help and intervention of experts the insurance claim for the ensuing damage topped £100k

If you already have bamboo growing in your garden you are advised to check that it’s properly contained.

You have been warned!

We also took time out to consider the case of the 55-year old man in India who was admitted to hospital suffering from constipation and severe abdominal pain.

After undergoing an ultrasound and X-ray, doctors located a ‘serious disturbance’ in his intestines which turned out to be a whole glass tumbler.

Doctors tried to remove the glass from his rectum with an endoscopic procedure, but having no luck had no choice but to operate on the man to finally remove it.

The embarrassed patient claimed that he swallowed the glass while having a drink.

Really? A likely story.

Doctors aren’t convinced either since the food pipe is too narrow for the object to pass through.

Hope to see you again tomorrow,
Scott
