As a result there are a lot of different organisations to support people, many of which you may not know about.
The Essex Community Tree is a network of partner organisations who provide support for people that are experiencing mental ill-health or related problems.
Our lunchtime presenter Bob Simpson welcomed in Peter Ferrier to the Phoenix FM studio last week to talk all about it.
Peter spoke about his own mental health journey and how he became involved the Essex Community Tree via an earlier project, Brentwood Community Print.
The Tree is run entirely by volunteers and helps signpost people to organisations that can be of most help to them.
