I decided to do a big shop the other day. Haven’t done one for a while as I’ve just been popping to the local Tesco shops for essentials so I was getting short of consumables other than food. Things like bleach, washing liquid, and cleaning stuff.
I chose a small trolley but ended up stocking up with so much I should have chosen a big one, as by the time I got to the checkout I had stuff overflowing. Got it all through the till and packed back in the trolley. Then that moment came. Reached for my wallet and it wasn’t there. Panic. Have I lost it? Did it drop out of my pocket in the car park? No, I’d left it at home!
The Supermarket staff were very good, I apologised and they said it happens all the time, (Not to me!) They held my shopping while I came back home and got my wallet.

and losing my wallet temporarily reminded me of something that happened to me years ago.
I’d just got back from shopping and had to go out again. I’d put my keys down somewhere and couldn’t find them. Searched and searched, tried retracing my steps, Looked in daft places where I knew they couldn’t be just out of desperation. Went through the spare keys and found my spare car key but couldn’t find a spare door key to get back in. Gave up.
What should you do when you’re completely stumped? Have a nice cup of tea. Went to the fridge for milk and there they were. Next to the sausages I’d just bought.
