In Football Leyton Orient returned from Merseyside empty-handed, as hosts Tranmere Rovers got revenge for their recent FA Cup exit at the hands of the East Londoners by consigning them to a 1-0 defeat in League Two of the EFL.

Southend United booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Trophy, coming from behind to beat Dorking Wanderers 2-1 at Roots Hall thanks to goals from Sam Dalby and Matt Dennis.

The Shrimpers have been drawn away to Dagenham & Redbridge, who on Sunday made a long trip to the South West to take on Truro City.

The tie finished goalless after extra time, but the Daggers went through after winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2.

Braintree Town’s tie away to St Albans City also finished 0-0, but the Iron exited the competition after their hosts won the shoot-out 6-5.

And there were no goals in our featured match in the National League South, which saw Billericay Town and Chelmsford City grind out a 0-0 draw at New Lodge.

Billericay remain at the foot of the table, with the Clarets just two places above them.
