A celebrity football match brought over 1,000 spectators together to raise almost £7,000 for Saint Francis Hospice.

Danny-Lee Finch, who owns the famous gym and assault course VIP HQ Essex, organised the event at Aveley Football Club Ground on 26 November with former West Ham and England legend Sir Trevor Brooking, who is one of the Hospice’s patrons, kicking off both games.

Singer and songwriter Olly Murs managed the men’s team VIP HQ Essex which included TV reality stars Mark Wright, Dan Edgar and Harry Lee from TOWIE, Kris Boyson, Tom Skinner who appeared on Celebrity Master Chef and The Apprentice, boxer Johnny Fisher and Paul Konchesky ex footballer & now the Assistant Manager at West Ham United Ladies!

After two fiercely competitive matches, the men’s Team VIP HQ secured an 11-5 victory against Gripz and the Gripz ladies team won  4-0 against the VIP HQ Essex ladies!

“We knew it would be a great event but it exceeded all expectations,” said Danny, whose grandad was cared for by the charity.

“We were thrilled to raise £6,880 for our chosen charity, Saint Francis Hospice.

“It was great to see so many families and their families come out to enjoy the day.

“I was really impressed with all the players and the celebrities who gave up so much of their time to be there on the day.

“Thank you to everyone who supported the event and to all the wonderful volunteers.

“We will be looking to team up with Saint Francis Hospice again next year and we hope to make it an annual event so we can raise even more money to help people who need its care and support.”
