Chris Boyland from Brentwood Churches Together told us that the Churches Together grouping in Brentwood had been strong for decades. He is from Brentwood Baptist church, with the churches together representing all denominations acknowledging that they are better able to serve the people of Brentwood by being together. A good example of this is the Good Friday Walk of witness. Different churches take it in turn to organise the service and the route each year. At Christmas the churches are involved together in Lighting Up Brentwood, providing stalls, entertainment and support. During the pandemic there have been a wide range of initiatives providing community support from within the local churches. Chris also commented that at the recent service of re-dedication at All Saints Church of England church East Horndon, a wide range of denominations were represented. Chris commented that sometimes people are surprised to find churches working together. He said there may be disagreements, but that did not stop people working together for the good of the community.
