Fundraiser in aid of project to restore garden near churchyard

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Now that concerts and events are finally back again, Phoenix FM are also out and about putting on shows and fundraisers for local charities and community groups.

Our hard-working sales and promotions manager Steve Roach has just organised another one of his Shenfield Cricket Club fundraisers with his customary speed and efficiency!

This event took place with the help of Francesca Spiteri, volunteer facilitator for Butterfly Meadow, a commemorative garden situated behind the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin in Shenfield.

The Meadow is associated with Our Grieving Hearts Brentwood, which is part of the national charity The Compassionate Friends.

The aim is to restore the meadow to a place of natural beauty – and the project is raising awareness of the unique support available to bereaved parents that the charity gives.

Thanks go to Keeley Smith for providing some fantastic entertainment and to Outside Help, Bennetts Funeral Directors, iFindTech and The Mortgage Specialists who co-sponsored the evening and helped us raise a whopping £600 on the night.

You can find out more about the work Francesca is doing at ourgrievinghearts.co.uk/butterfly-meadow and more events are planned soon – keep an eye on phoenixfm.com for details.
