Yes, You Can Choose the Life You Want

Maria Tucker, Grief Life Coach and Civil Celebrant, writes for Phoenix FM

My work with Maria has been invaluable. She showed an ability to tune into what I needed and worked in a very skilful and intuitive way. I trusted her steer.”

For the past 20 years of coaching, my life’s purpose has evolved into helping people move from grief to relief, creating a safe space that allows them to process their pain and live their lives with a renewed sense of fulfilment and joy.

When I speak to new people about the work I do, some assume that grief only occurs after the death of a loved one.

But if you were to lose your job, or break up with a long-term partner, then you may find yourself experiencing feelings of grief and loss, even if you were the one who ended the relationship with your partner.

Over time, you may begin to fear the future. Feeling anxious and ‘stuck’, you are unable to move forwards, because you no longer trust yourself to make the right choices.

When this happens, it is important to understand how you are feeling in the present moment and get to the heart of whatever is holding you back. You can then focus on your unique purpose, taking gentle steps towards the life you most want to live.

Maria was able to give me some very practical tools and techniques to help manage a new situation that I was finding difficult but also looked at what the underlying issues were that were also getting in the way in a cleverly timed and imaginative way.”

Recently, I worked with a wonderful lady – let’s call her Joan – who came to me because she had just started a new role at work. Instead of celebrating, she felt a deep lack of confidence and anxiety about her ability to do the job well.

Joan also suffered with relationship issues. She had spent most of her life worrying about everybody around her, so much so that she felt unable to make even the simplest of decisions for fear of upsetting someone.

Maria was able to give me some very practical tools and techniques to help manage a new situation that I was finding difficult, but also looked at what the underlying issues were, in a cleverly timed and imaginative way.

I had clear tasks I could practice after each session to help build on what we had discussed, and she was very open for email contact between sessions to help me keep on track.”

Joan and I worked closely together over a period of six months, creating a unique, personalised plan that safely allowed her to face her fears, solve her issues, and discover her life’s true purpose.

Joan’s joyful words reflect both the huge progress she has made, and the fact that she is now living – and loving! – the life she has chosen for herself.

Maria is perceptive, astute and willing to say what she sees. And this is done with a background of warmth, compassion, and deep encouragement.

I get the feeling she walks her talk, and she would tailor what you need to her vast array of techniques and experience, so every person gets a unique programme depending on what they are presenting with.

I feel I left with a road map of my direction in life, which I can now continue with.”

Even in your darkest moments, when everything feels impossible, it is important to remember that you are the creator of your own reality. You can choose to live the life you most want.
