The man with the golden toilet

Now truthfully would you expect a traffic officer to be able to boast having a golden toilet?

Clearly not!

No surprise then that Russian traffic officer, ALEXEI SAFONOY, has been accused of leading a gang, including, a traffic inspector, more than 35 traffic police officers and 4 civilians, who were apparently issuing permits to grain cargo transporters in exchange for bribes.

The permits allowed the transporters to ignore regional laws, even when crossing police checkpoints.

Pictures have emerged of the inside of a lavish mansion, extravagant decorations, a billiards hall and even a golden toilet.

Why on earth would anyone want a golden toilet? Maybe just to show he really was flush!

No less than 80 properties were raided with authorities uncovering large amounts of cash, expensive cars and a host of documentary evidence.

Seems likely that the officer concerned will be lowering his buttocks onto a much lower grade loo for the foreseeable future!

I was joined in the second hour of today’s programme by Margaret Mills who was looking at one of the Pankhurst family members – of suffragette fame – and her links with Essex.

We were actually looking at Sylvia Pankhurst today, and if you missed what Margaret said, listen again here: –

I look forward to having your company again next week,
Scott
