I was very sad to hear of the passing of Simon Cantwell last week.

Simon played keyboard and sang backing vocals with The Solo Beatles, a band that have featured on my show several times and have become personal friends

Simon was a great musician, but more than that he was a devoted husband and father, a very decent human being and an absolute gentleman. Simon had been battling a long illness but still managed to maintain a good sense of humour and concern for others. My thoughts go out to his family and friends at this sad time.

So I thought a small tribute to Simon on my show today would be appropriate. You can listen below. Simon tells us a little about his career and how he got into music. We also hear a couple of tracks from The Solo Beatles featuring Simon on keyboard.
