Helping to gear up for the launch of this year’s Brentwood Art Trail

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’ve been gearing up for the launch of this year’s Brentwood Art Trail with a number of features and interviews on air with local artists.

Phoenix FM used to host exhibits when we were based in the Baytree Centre – unfortunately our current studios don’t give us the same public visibility but we do what we can to help by handing the airwaves over to our talented local creators.

Firstly, our Friday lunch presenter Patrick Sherring chatting to Villene Hyam, who visited the studio to talk about the launch of this year’s event.

Our Arts Programme presenters Rob West and Claire Gevaux have been busy too, interviewing lots of local artists involved with this year’s exhibits, including Lucia Hardy, Irene Malvezi, Jacqueline Deacon, Jill Busby, Michele Fazakerley, Sue Mills and Teresa Pettenuzzo.

As well as the artists, we’ve looked also at the local people who help to make it happen – and one of this year’s event sponsors, Matt Barry from Blue Serif, wrote a feature for Phoenix FM about this year’s event, which appears on our website too.

It’s always a great event but this year’s event has some fantastic pieces including a feature on Our Community Heroes which can be seen in the window displays at Bennetts Funerals in the High Street.

The Brentwood Art Trail runs until 18 July at selected locations in Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone – www.brentwoodarttrail.co.uk has more details. All of the interviews with our presenters can be seen and heard again at www.phoenixfm.com.
