CBD or THC: Which is right for you?

One industry that is booming at the moment is the cannabis industry. Many people are realizing the health benefits that come from THC and CBD, and even using portable dry herb vaporizers, and many people are now consuming it. These devices have become quite popular over the last few years, leading to many retailers selling them, such as MagicVaporizers here, as well as a sea of many physical shops. THC is the component that is well known and CBD is still in the shadows because CBD is better known for its health benefits which have only been explored in recent times whereas THC is associated with psychoactive effects. Whether you will use CBD or THC really depends on who you are. This blog will go more into detail about whether THC or CBD is the right fit for you.

What is THC?

THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is one of the main components in the cannabis plant that is psychoactive and is responsible for the high feeling you get when you use marijuana. There are 2 THC strains, Sativa and Indica. Sativa can be found in the warmer parts of the world such as Southern Asia and Central America and it provides an energizing and creative high. Sativa benefits people who have depression, headaches, nausea, and appetite loss Sativa has more THC than it does CBD. Indica on the other hand provides a relaxing high and is an effective pain reliever. Indica has more CBD. THC is for people who want to use cannabis recreationally whereas CBD is more for medical purposes.

CBD is different

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the other main component in the cannabis plant. And it is used in many products, such as oils, plus its medical benefits. Where THC causes the user to feel high, CBD does not have that effect. It has many health benefits such as helping with pain relief, nausea, insomnia, depression, anxiety, seizures, and many others. People who want to use CBD over THC are people who are looking to get relief from certain medical conditions and are not looking to get high.

Legalization

Cannabis laws are always changing. THC and marijuana are included in the US-controlled substance act which means that they are illegal under federal law. From July 2020, 33 states and Washington DC have implemented policies allowing medical marijuana and THC-containing products to be prescribed to people by a doctor. Some states in America also allow Marijuana to be used recreationally and other THC-containing products to be used. CBD in certain forms is legal in most states but it varies from state to state. CBD is legal because of the medical benefits that it offers and there is more research being done about it that shows the benefits it has on many health conditions that plague society. THC on the other hand, although it has health benefits, it is mainly used for recreational use. These laws and policies affect the availability, the method of consumption and it also dictates who will buy each product.

Treatments

THC and CBD treats many ailments. CBD treats chronic pain, anorexia, multiple sclerosis, inflammation, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia to name a few. THC on the other hand helps treat patients suffering from pain, wasting syndrome associated with HIV, irritable bowel syndrome, and Crohn’s disease to name a few. CBD treats a lot more conditions than THC does and one of the main differences between the 2 is that THC provides a high on top of the medical relief.

The negative stigma around marijuana is fading and society is starting to embrace this herb and see its healing potential. The way we treat medical conditions is also changing and society is opting for a more natural alternative to treating medical conditions. If you are interested in marijuana and want to know whether CBD or THC is right for you remember that THC and CBD are different even though they are derived from the same plant. THC is responsible for the high while CBD provides relief for medical conditions such as pain, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. In terms of legalization, the law is more relaxed with CBD than it is with THC because THC is more for recreational use whereas CBD has medical benefits but even though THC is famous for the high it proves, the element does provide health benefits.
