Today I had the absolute please of meeting Welsh musician, composer, presenter and all round legend of the music scene Mal Pope!
From making his radio debut with the legendary John Peel and signing with Elton John’s Rocket Records at 13, to hosting The Mal Pope Show on TV and the BBC Radio Wales breakfast show, Mal has met, performed and worked with some of the biggest names in music.
It was fantastic to chat to Mal about his life and work. We talked about all sorts, from his spectacular new single “I Still Think About You” to some of the memories of his life growing up as a young artist. We covered this week’s Welsh win in the euros, entering a song for Europe, some priceless life advice from Mal on how to cope with setbacks and, of course, The Fireman Sam theme tune, beating Elton John at subbuteo, watching The Who record Pinball Wizard and countless more fascinating stories!
