Samantha Davison from Beaulieu Wealth Management spoke to us to talk about the benefits of using a broker who can offer a personal experience to home or business insurance.
I am a General Insurance Broker based in Wickford, Essex. I have over 26 years’ experience in the finance and insurance world. A skilled negotiator with expertise in customer relationships, I have honed my skills to provide the best service for my clients. I can arrange insurance to suit each client’s needs and requirements, creating a completely tailored experience.
I also support many financial advisers by working with their clients offering a range of products from Buildings & Contents, Landlord Policies, tenants cover, renovation cover, unencumbered properties on the residential side. On the commercial side I support their clients with professional indemnity, public liability, office packages and fleet insurance. This works extremely well as the adviser is confident their client is being offered all the services required and they do not have to get involved with the additional time and paperwork for general insurance; they are assured that with my experience I can provide the correct cover and allow them to focus on their products. And of course, this provides them with an additional income stream. I also look after the clients in the same way at renewal, ensuring their premium is still competitive and the cover required has not changed, which plays a particularly important factor in client retention.
There have been so many changes, to highlight just a few, would be around the cover for BSI (Buildings sum insured). Going back quite a few years, most insurers just insured the BSI value. With market spikes and sharp rises, many homeowners found themselves under insured. Over the years most insurers have moved towards a blanket cover, typically £500,000 or £1,000,000, covering a vast majority of properties in the UK. We have also seen the explosion of comparison sites, these in themselves do provide certain risks, such as the inability to ask any questions, clients are ticking boxes and submitting information but are they correct in their assumption of what is being asked, these sites tend to focus more on price than cover itself. It is only at the point of claim that the client could find themselves inadequately insured, or not insured correctly at all, by then it is too late. They often entice the client initially with an exceptionally low premium, when the renewal comes through, it tends to be much higher, and the client must start the whole process again.
I am extremely passionate about my business, by ensuring my clients have the correct cover at the correct premium.
