The pandemic forced Billericay Mayflower Rotary Club to cancel most of its major fundraising events for 2020. Typically these would have raised over £30,000 for donation to charities. There is now a need to find new ways to fundraise for new charitable causes.
One of the major casualty groups of the pandemic is school children our next generation. Despite best efforts, nearly all areas of education have been compromised. Recovery of the extended period of lost classroom education is the Number One education priority and Billericay Mayflower Rotary Club is now leading a fundraising drive to be able to offer financial assistance to the schools in Billericay. There are 12 schools supporting over 6500 children.
Through their successful Boatathon event last September Billericay Mayflower created their Kids Fund, raising nearly £6000, which has already been able to provide financial support to several schools and organisations to assist in dealing with physical and emotional wellbeing matters. They now want to move on with providing further financial support to provide additional resources for teaching, exercise and welfare to help recover some of the education ground lost as a result of the pandemic.
RUN FOR HEROES is partnering with a host of charities across the UK, including BILLERICAY MAYFLOWER ROTARY KIDS FUND, for their 5KMAY fundraising event to raise funds to provide additional resources for Billericay school children.
Its about hitting that 5K target. It’s not just about running though – you could ride, row, swim, skate, ski, or simply walk your 5 kilometres if you wish! Complete in one hit or spread over several days. All that matters is getting your body moving and raising vital funds for charity.
You can take part on your own or as a group. Complete your 5K mission and donate £5 to BILLERICAY MAYFLOWER ROTARY KIDS FUND.
Then nominate 5 friends or family members to mirror your achievement, complete their own 5K challenge and each donate £5. Then ask them to repeat among family and friends and again.
