We’ve been playing out LT Turner Jr’s latest track “On Eagle’s Wings” on our Rising Stars show recently – and we caught up with him to find out a little bit more about his life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I am a professional musician and inspirational blogger who loves bringing inspiration, encouragement and positive reinforcement to others. My mission is simple – to bless, inspire and encourage others through my music and inspiration.

When I am not making music, writing some inspiration through my blog or helping others with their dreams and goals, I love to spend time in nature, reading, walks, sci-fi (Star Trek Voyager, Star Gate SG1, and Star Gate Atlantis are my favourites!), amusement parks, weekend getaways, or just sitting chatting with a friend sipping on some coffee.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

Music has always been a huge part of my life since birth. The flute was my very first instrument (and then eventually piano became my main instrument). However, the flute continues to be my most favourite solo instrument of all which is why I am super excited to be featuring Alto Flutist, Dario Cei on my instrumental piece, “On Eagle’s Wings”

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Steve Green, Larnell Harris, Sandi Patty, Kim Boyce, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Petra.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

I’ve often been called the “Smooth Balladeer “. I love ballads – so my vocal works are considered “Easy Listening”. My instrumental piece “On Eagle’s Wings”, would be considered “Spiritual, Inspirational and Orchestral”

What music have you recorded and released to date?

“Betcha By Golly Wow” (released May 1st, 2016), “When October Goes” (released November 21st, 2016), “Seasons of Love” EP (released February 14th, 2019), which is a collection of love songs that takes the listener down a journey through the various seasons of love.

All the releases just mentioned were all vocal work. In fact, most know me for just being a singer/vocalist, but first and foremost, I am a pianist and arranger. There is just something magical about playing the piano and transforming the piece into a crescendoing full-blown orchestral sound.

Which is why I am so very excited for my first instrumental piece, “On Eagle’s Wings” (released April 11th, 2021)

It’s my utmost hope and desire that this musical piece will bless and infuse a new sense of peace, hope and inspiration on the listeners journey so that they will feel “raised up on eagle’s wings”.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Vocally, I am a bit “old school”. There is just something so magical with the sounds of the groups from the 70’s. Anything from the 70’s, I am a huge fan of. The Stylistics, The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Blue Magic, Dionne Warwick and so many others from that time period. The Stylistics and The Carpenters have made the most impact to me with my music.

Instrumentally as a pianist, I listen to Anthony Burger, Mary Beth Carlson, Steve Hall, Philip Keveran, Christopher West and Terry MacAlmon. But most of my piano influences were from my two piano professors in college. I would not be the pianist that I am today if it weren’t for them.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

The Carpenters.

What are your plans for the future?

To continue working on my music projects (both vocal and instrumental) and release them to the world. But most of all to continue “Sharing the gift of music, one note a time”

Where can we find out more about you?

You can also find more information on my front page of the website www.LTTurnerJr.com, about On Eagle’s Wings and also my BIO www.ltturnerjr.com/bio which talks more about my musical upbringing.
