A first since I presented the show this week – I followed the fortunes of four of our local football teams during the show, and all four of them won!

It was a particuarly memorable Saturday for Hornchurch of the Isthmian Premier League, who have a date at Wembley to look forward to after their remarkable win at National League Notts County in the FA Trophy semi-finals.

The Urchins were 3-2 down as the tie went into injury time, but levelled the scores for a third time to force a penalty shoot-out which they won 5-4.

Mark Stimson’s side face Hereford of the National  League North – who beat Woking 1-0 in the other semi-final – at the national stadium on Saturday May 22nd.

Elsewhere, Leyton Orient’s turnaround in form continued as they won their third League Two game on the bounce, beating Oldham Athletic 2-1 at Brisbane Road, whilst Southend United kept their survival hopes alive with a 1-0 win away to Harrogate Town.

And in the National League, Dagenham & Redbridge also picked up three points by beating Torquay United 1-0 at home.
