Presenters celebrate International Women’s Day with special editions

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

The great strength of community radio is in celebrating diversity of all kinds – from niche topics to areas of wide interest – which wouldn’t normally get airtime on commercial radio, which is content to keep ploughing out your better music mix.

Every year we celebrate International Women’s Day with more and more features, and 2021 continued this tradition.

Our Arts Programme hosts Rob West and Claire Gevaux featured local performance poet Joy M Louisa about the poetry she has written to celebrate this year’s event.

Vicki Michelle presented a special edition of her Sunday afternoon Music Mix show, and Vic Damhar played out tracks from his favourite female DJs, producers and songwriters in the electronic scene.

All of the shows are available to listen to again on Phoenix FM’s website at www.phoenixfm.com.
