It’s always nice to get requests from listeners but today’s request was sad but very worthwhile.

A very special request from Meghan White
Meghan writes

“A friend of mine Toni Martin passed away last month from lung cancer, and it’s her funeral this Wednesday. (Today)

Toni did a lot for people with additional needs (such as creating Combined Disability Disco) and we wanted to do our best to try get as many radio stations to play one of her favourite songs at around 1pm after her funeral.

Toni use to sing and dance with all ‘her kids’ at the CDD Disco to ‘Proud Mary’ by Tina Turner and it would mean the absolute world if you guys would maybe consider playing it for her please?”

C.D.D Disco opened in 2011 by Eddy Stacey, Richard and Tony Thorne. C.D.D Disco which stands for Combined Disability Disco, is aimed at people of all ages from 8+ with special needs or a disability. Before lock down they held a weekly disco at The Haystack Pub (The Venue Bar) which is a private venue, giving people with special needs a chance to be social and meet new friends and have fun.

​The aim is to give the feel of a nightclub/ night out effect, are wheelchair friendly and welcome families to join.
