Composer Melvin Fromm Jr, & his wife Percy

You may have heard us playing tracks from Melvin Fromm Jr on Phoenix FM recently, including Always Snow Deep Gold Feeling Life and Low Green Sky Feeling Love – and we caught up with Melvin to find out more about his life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

Hi – my name is Melvin Fromm Jr, a composer from Pennsylvania USA, and today I compose many styles of instrumental and work with award-winning musicians and producers who also have previously worked with some of the most talented and major music stars of different genres to help me make my many styles of music come to life.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

I started out writing song lyrics because of my girlfriend – now wife – about the love I felt for her and had them made into songs in the mid-1990s and always wanted to compose music myself from scratch and in the mid-2000s I started making my own music tracks.

My hard work, my never ending engrossment, and love for music finally got me noticed by a Canadian radio DJ that helped me put my music on worldwide radio as that was the start on my music journey.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

I grew up with the country and pop stars of the 70’s & 80’s. Why?. Because my dad loved country music so every time I went with him I would hear the country stars singing and when I went with my mom I would hear the pop stars singing as it’s not a bad thing I think it help me love a lot of different styles of music that I make today.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

My music is instrumental styles of music from easy listening, jazz, country, blues, rock and a mix of other styles we come up with. I been told by most my music is soothing and easy feeling and it helped a lot of people facing this crazy pandemic worldwide make life a little easy, as me and the music teams working with me won an award in 2020 called “Your music has helped make this year better 🎶 2020 award” for all the many music styles we released in 2020.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

In July 2020 I got the golden opportunity of my life and got a chance to work with award-winning musicians and producers who also have previously worked with some of the most talented and major music stars of different genres and been putting out new music daily since then.

2021 – 41 of these new songs have been gaining a lot of plays on Boomplay #1 music app in Africa. Also 46 more new songs have also just been added and getting plays around the world with “Business Overhead Radio”. We also have fans starting to use this music worldwide in Facebook and Youtube videos. Also new music coming out daily on Spotify.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Lakewood Church music because I have a lot to thank God about and I try to always surround myself with positive in life and the goodness of God. One of Lakewood’s guitarist worked with major music people before going to Lakewood Church and doing music and last time Lakewood Church was in my city my wife bought music cd of Lakewood Church music and when I heard that guitarist that worked with major people before I felt it was God saying to me ‘Yes Melvin with me your music is starting to shine”. I like to take to always praise the goodness of God in all things in my life it keeps me grounded and working hard.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Thanks to God this has happen to me as these musicians and producers I am so grateful and thankful to God to work have won a lot of music awards, work with all the major music stars in many styles of music both in studio and on the road. I always joke around that these great music people really make me look like what I am doing with music even when I have no idea what I am doing on a song.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to keep making music and getting out to the world and hope with the grace of God it touches people in some way to make life a little better. I have a lot of licensing deals from all over the world looking at my music so hope that really grows with the grace of God. Just see what else may open up as I have a lot of people always contacting me with music stuff.
