Difficulties faced by charities during the lockdown

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

The longer that lockdown goes on, the more issues it carries for local and national charities whose fundraising has been impacted by the interruption to normal life.

We’ve been highlighting the good work of these organisations and our latest on-air feature was Blesma, a charity set up in 1932 to support current and former service men and women who have lost limbs, or lost the use of limbs or eyes, to help rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.

Blesma are a national charity but have been very active in Essex in the past as their head office is in Chelmsford.

Our breakfast show Mike Porter chatted to Blesma’s Corporate Partnerships Manager Mike Allen about the difficulties that all charities face, and some examples of the work that Blesma has been doing in helping people to live better lives.

You can hear the interview again at phoenixfm.com – and you can find out more about Blesma by calling Mike on 020 3954 3029 or by visiting blesma.org.
