We’ve been playing out Let Me Be from Doctor Ravan here on Phoenix FM over the last week or so – and we caught up with him to talk about his life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I’m a son from royalty but my ancestors were slave masters. They even secretly enslaved their own children – I definitely don’t agree with that. I make music for my tribe who are trying to stop themselves from being erased.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

I have been loving music from the time I was a little boy. I got a late start because times were so hard as a child – but I’ve always had a passion for music and to compose my own.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

There are so many artists I loved coming up. I love Michael and Janet Jackson, Ice Cube and Tupac. I couldn’t get everyone on the list.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

I would say it is Prophecy.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I have recorded and released about 13 songs so far. You can hear them all on streaming services including Spotify.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Right now I like listening to Beyonce and Alicia Keys.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

My dream collab would definitely be with Janet Jackson.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to keep spreading Truth through music and helping my Tribal family who are under siege. Freedom is what all of us want, mind body and soul.
