You may have heard us playing Lights Dancing In The Sun from the Aquarian Earth on Rising Stars and other shows recently.

We spoke to Gina from The Aquarian Earth to talk about her project.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I was born and raised in Colombia. I went to a small Catholic school there, where I created beautiful memories.

I was always involved in dance and singing activities at school. I moved to the USA when I was 15 years old and since then life has changed a lot, but I mostly focused on my studies and got a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology.

This gave me a deeper knowledge in understanding my body which made me even more passionate about dancing, and this is when I started dancing samba professionally.

Every year my passion for dancing grew more, so I wanted to express my love for music in another more meaningful way and that is when I felt guided by God to start an animated band to express the message of Love.

So, I when on a quest to look for the best artists I could find and create our first song together.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

Since I was a baby. I was born during carnival season back in Colombia and all I could listen was the festive music around me.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

The list is long; I love all genres, but I mostly enjoy listening to Spanish and English pop. I would watch MTV after school and binge watch music videos. Some on the list are Daft Punk, The Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguilera.

But when it comes to dancing, I love to listen to Samba, Reggaeton, Merengue and Latin Hip Hop.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

Soothing and yet upbeat. My music expresses a calm feeling meant to help people process their emotions.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I also work with Brazilian Artists in a samba school named Unidos do Céu, where we create fun carnival music and I create dance tutorials.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

As of right now I love to go on Spotify and listen to playlists. I don’t have a specific artist, but I do enjoy Trance and instrumental.

I think in a deeper level the music we listen to influences our lives.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Empire of the Sun.

What are your plans for the future?

To keep making music. I feel God has given me this love for music and I am happy to create music for him in collaboration with all the amazing artist in the band. We are currently working on our second song and it has been a very rewarding process.

Where can we find out more about your music?
