Inspirational student Michelle’s project to make a film about living with cancer

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

As we’re in Lockdown 3 we aren’t having any guests live in the studio at the moment, but there’s no shortage of interesting people we’ve been chatting to on the phone or on Zoom to tell us about their stories.

Our new Drive presenter, Georgia Frampton, was joined last week by Michelle Rowe, a film studies undergraduate at the University of Hertfordshire.

Michelle’s project is much more than just a final year student project. Diagnosed with cancer at the age of 20, Michelle wanted to make a film telling her story in the hope it will help others in similar situations.

The film is currently in the fundraising stage, and Michelle and her team would really appreciate any support. The project has an Indiegogo page at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sense-of-tumour#/ and you can also follow the film’s progress on Instagram at @senseoftumourfilm.

Michelle’s interview with Georgia can be heard again on Georgia’s webpage at https://www.phoenixfm.com/category/drive/

Georgia expressed the opinion that Michelle was one of the most inspiring people she had ever interviewed and listening back, I would definitely agree.
