On today’s programme I got to chat with local author, GRAHAME McQUALE, who is in the midst of writing a trilogy, with plans for more books in the future.
Pretty amazing really as he only decided to embark on this new career 6 years ago, which he manages to achieve in spite of a full time appointment with an American company.
The first book in the series – NEW GODS – bears a remarkable resemblance to current events since it tells of the release of a virus which paralyses Europe, in spite of which, just as we have seen over this past year, a vaccine is mysteriously discovered far faster than would normally be the case.
Was this mere co-incidence, or does Graham possess second sight?
Listen here to everything that Grahame told me today:-
If you are interested in Grahame’s first two books in the series, they are NEW GODS and 15 DAYS IN MAY.
Both are available from Amazon and Apple on paperback, Kindle and ebook.
The paperbacks are priced at £9.99 and the Kindle/ebook priced at around £2.99.
NEW GODS is also available on Audiobook, narrated by Walt Allen and 15 DAYS in MAY will follow aptly around the month of May.
In the second hour of today’s programme we heard a cautionary tale about a computer controlled chastity belt.
Now chastity belts have been around since time immemorial and it seems that a male version made by a Chinese firm is now available.
Like so many things these days, this new device is controlled by an app, but as the manufacturer carelessly left the coding without a password, it meant that anyone, anywhere could take control of the device – which is exactly what someone has done, and is now busy sending victims ominous messages demanding payment to set themselves free from their devices!
The issues around vulnerability in these types of machines were first raised in October last year when Pen Test Partners discovered there was a chink in the armour.
Technical experts have strongly recommended purchasers of these devices to not even consider wearing them until the technical glitch has been solved else your privates could be held to ransom.
Manufacturer, QIUI CELLMATE, say that every time they think the issue has been fixed other issues appear but the bigger issue is that Qiui hold a large amount of intimate and personal data, including users’ locations, and really there’s not much that users can do about this until Qiui address the vulnerabilities.
One user claims to have been waiting months for Qiui to even acknowledge a request to delete their account and data as well.
Well that’s technology for you!
I’ll leave you with that thought and look forward to joining you again tomorrow,
Scott
