Hard to believe but after a man had a row with his wife in Italy, he apparently left his house and went for a walk to clear his head.
Trouble is he kept on walking – for 280 miles!
And in the process he completely ignored the country’s COVID – 10pm to 5am, curfew regulations!
The unnamed man, from Como, hiked 40 miles a day with no water, and told police he was just trying to calm down after the row.
Must have been some row!
Initially police didn’t believe his story but after speaking with his wife, they discovered she had reported him missing a week earlier.
According to reports, the man was extremely fatigued and told the authorities he just didn’t realise how far he’d been walking and had only intended to go and clear his head.
Apparently people he met along the way gave him food and water.
Bizarrely the man was then put up in a local hotel for the night – The Hotel Augustus – where he and his family had previously stayed during a holiday.
Unfortunately when his wife went to collect him she was promptly slapped with a fine of €400 (£350) for his breach of said curfew rules.
Bet that went down a treat!
In the second hour I was joined by Margaret Mills who took us to Latton Priory near Harlow, where a number of surveys took place to try and find out more of the history of the Priory and what had occupied the land where the priory once stood.
Listen again here to what Margaret told me today: –
See you again next week,
