During this week’s show we saw Southend United finally grab their long-awaited first win of the 2020/21 football season, and their first since Mark Molesley took over as manager at Roots Hall as Emile Acquah’s late winner gave League Two’s bottom club three much-needed points in a 1-0 victory away to Walsall.

But there was no such luck in the same division for Leyton Orient, who slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Colchester United.

Our featured match this week was in the National League South, where Billericay Town continued their turnaround after a poor start to the campaign as goals from Jake Robinson and Jai Reason gave Jamie O’Hara’s side a 2-0 win at home to Slough Town. Our man at New Lodge Leigh was on hand to provide us with half-time and full-time reports.

Not such a good afternoon in the same league for Chelmsford City, who slipped to a second consecutive home loss at the hands of Hampton & Richmond Borough, and winless Braintree Town who continue to prop up the table after a comprehensive defeat at Eastbourne Borough.

But in Rugby Union we saw England make a very good start in their opening match of the new Autumn Nations Cup competition, as they secured a 40-0 win over Georgia at Twickenham.
