Hutton Recreation Play Area consultation – Have your say

Hutton Recreation Play Area is set for a refurbishment under the Council’s 5 year Play Area Strategy. So far the Toddler Play Area at King George’s Playing Fields and the Play Area at River Road have been revamped by the Council’s contractors HAGs.

Plans for Hutton Recreation Area are already underway and the second phase of the consultation with residents started on November 3.

Phase Two follows the first part of the consultation where a general questionnaire was sent to local residents, schools and those who use the area so they could complete the survey and help inform the new designs and layout. That part of the consultation closed on August 17, 2020.

The new Phase 2 has taken into account the feedback from Phase 1 and provides a range of ‘Picture Boards’ which illustrates various options for play equipment. So for example there are three different roundabouts to choose from, and these options will be marked under a scoring system to gauge the response. The highest score will be registered as the most popular choice The link to phase 2 can be found here; https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MKHTFMH. This phase of the consultation closes on 20 November 2020.

Chair of Community and Health Committee, Councillor Cliff Poppy said, “The new consultation is the ideal opportunity for residents to give their views and to really shape how the new Hutton Recreation Play Area will look, and the type of play themes that it will offer. We have already completed King George’s and River Road and they are smashing parks now with lots to interest children and encourage them to try out all sorts of play. We know how important these play areas are to residents and the new King George’s and River Road have proved to be particularly popular with families during such a challenging year. The Council is committed to improving the play areas in the borough but we need your opinions to make sure that Hutton Recreation Play Area gets the type of equipment that you would like your children to have. So I really encourage residents to complete the survey and help shape the Play Area for the future. “

Once the second consultation phase has been completed, an overview will be drawn up that will provide the basis for the new play area. The Council will work closely with the Council’s contractor HAGs, to further develop the final design. Once completed the final design will be on the Council’s website.
