Some of our star players loaned out to help promote football club

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Some of our presenters on Phoenix FM are clearly men and women of many talents – as two of our regular radio hosts are now on the microphone at Brentwood Town Football Club every matchday too.

Rob West and Georgia Frampton have been presenting shows with us for a couple of years – Rob co-presents The Arts Programme with Claire Gevaux every Sunday afternoon, and Georgia has presented a number of different shows although she has now settled down with a regular slot on Wednesday lunchtimes.

Brentwood Town are under new ownership and we’ve recently entered into partnership with them to help promote them and give them a real push. I am sure they would agree that attendances have been shockingly low in previous seasons and we are on a mission to turn that around by giving the club much more publicity on air.

As part of the new arrangement we’re delighted to loan out a few of our star players! I’m sure that Rob and Georgia will be mentioning the matches more than a few times on air – and since they play their home matches at the other end of our car park, we’ll be sending down as many people as we can on matchdays too.

Early news of the loan deal has been promising – we’ve already seen one comment on Twitter saying that the club should be winning an award for the most eloquently spoken and clear tannoy announcer – and I’m sure their stints on air with us have definitely helped that.

You can hear all the latest from Brentwood Town and our other local non-league clubs every Saturday afternoon at 3pm on Phoenix Sport with John Chubb.
