Match report: Burnham Ramblers 3 May & Baker 1

Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Division One South

A debut to remember and forget for Burnham’s Jacob Cleaver as he picked up a goal and a red card.

Both teams came to the game with some good form, with Burnham having beaten league leaders Little Oakley 4-3 and May & Baker defeating previously unbeaten Benfleet by the same score on the teams’ last outing.

The Ramblers had the better of the earlier exchanges and Cleaver marked his first game with a well-taken penalty on 11 minutes.

Two more well-taken efforts from 16 year old Albert Galbally and former New Zealand U20 player Justin Bailey extended the lead to 3-0 before half time.

A very different May & Baker team took to the field in the second half and pulled a goal back, before Cleaver was sent off for dissent.

The ten men were able to hold on to give a second consecutive win for Burnham, who move up to 9th place in the League. May & Baker sit in 15th, with several games in hand on the teams above them.

Burnham Ramblers: Seal, Scott (Golder 90′), Wood, Duffy, Horey, Galbally, Artemi, Slater (Jackman 86′), Payne, Bailey (Salter 78′), Cleaver.

May & Baker: Worboyes, Riddell, Perry, O’Connor, Rodrigues, Brougham, Dada, Pooley, Gillham, Osei, Barth.
