Professional burglarism at its best!

Today we reported on the man competing for the award of the most incompetent burglar.

It seems that last March 43-year old Malcolm Pyke broke into a garage in Sunderland from which he liberated £150 worth of cleaning material.

But as he left without first picking up his own belongings including a bag which contained letters bearing his name and address, police had little difficulty in getting on his trail.

Not perhaps the best move if you’re hoping to cover your tracks.

The stolen goods have since been returned to the rightful owner.

Clearly Mr Pyke had little choice other than to plead guilty, but while he was at it he also admitted to what police described as a mini crime spree, including another burglary and stealing clothes from someone’s washing line.

Perhaps he was hoping to get clean away!

Being a Tuesday I was joined once more by Margaret Mills who today was looking at the other Wickford, that’s Wickford on Rhode Island in the USA, and its links and connections with it’s namesake here in Essex.

Listen again here to what Margaret told me today: –

Well that’s me done for another week but I hope to see you again  next week,
Scott
