NATIONAL LEAGUE ROUND-UP 10/10/20

After beginning 2020/21 with two defeats Dagenham & Redbridge picked up their first win of the season in the National League, Angelo Balanta’s 65th minute strike giving Daryl McMahon’s men all three points against newly-promoted Wealdstone at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

In the National League South Concord Rangers took the lead late in the first half at home to St Albans City, Alex Wall netting a 41st minute penalty after being fouled by St Albans’ James Kaloczi.

But the visitors levelled 12 minutes from time through Dave Diedhiou to make the final score 1-1.

That was also the result at Melbourne Park, where Chelmsford City initially fell behind to a James Roberts volley with 22 minutes played against Oxford City.

But six minutes later Adam Morgan equalised for the Clarets with a superb left-footed strike from the edge of the area, to give Robbie Simpson’s side a point.

Billericay Town‘s disappointing start to the season continued as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat away to Bath City. Tommy Conway – a loan signing from Championship club Bristol City – scored a goal in each half to give the hosts all three points.

And Braintree Town also lost on the road. They held on for most of their game at Chippenham Town before home captain Kieran Parselle kneed home the only goal of the game from a Joe Hanks free-kick five minutes from the end.
