Singing legend Marty tells of his life in music

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We had a rock and roll legend on our Drive Time show this week – not our presenter Ian Leigh, but singer Marty Wilde!

Marty is best known for a string of top ten hits in the last 50s and early 60s,

Marty was on the show to chat about his new album and single, 60s World – which is also celebrating his 60 years in the music business. It’s also his first-ever duet with his daughter, Brit Award-winning Kim, who is also marking her 60th birthday this year.

Ian managed to chat about the old days as well and chatted with Marty about what the music business was like when he was a teenager – it’s a fascinating insight as to how much things have changed since then.

Marty has a new album out on 2 October, Running Together – a 15-track musical journey through the past 8 decades of Marty’s life, which also includes collaborations from Kim and Marty’s other children, Roxanne and Ricky.

The interview can be heard again at phoenixfm.com.
