As the club cricket season comes to an end, we report on the final match of the season, the Dukes Essex T20 Final, which was contested by Buckhurst Hill and Hornchurch last weekend. we also round up all the other cricket news, including the Vitality Blast, England’s Ladies and an update on the English players involvement in the IPL. We also remember Dean Jones, who sadly passed away at the tender age of 59.
Guests this week are Graham Woodward, ground announcer at all the England games, including at Lord’s for last year’s unforgettable World Cup Final. Aside from cricket, he also is involved with banger racing and tells us how he got involved! We also spoke to Ashley Gray, author of “The Unforgiven”, which has been shortlisted by the Cricket Writers Club for their book of the year. It tells the story of the West Indian players who toured South Africa in the 1980s as part of the rebel tours to the country, which at the time was excluded from international sport, due to the apartheid regime there at the time. On their return to the Caribbean, the reception this players received was less than friendly and for many it proved ruinous. A great interview.
There’s the usual mix of chat, music and of course, “Cricket Birthdays of the Week”. And please remember to subscribe to our “98 Not Out” YouTube channel to catch up on all our star guest interviews. Play straight, play great!
