Major traffic hold up!

Today, we were pleased to report on a traffic hold up, pleased because it was well outside our patch.

It seems that an 88-year old man seeking the quickest way home caused traffic chaos as he scooted along the fast lane of the Julio Luengo Tunnel on a motorway in Gran Canaria, at about 8MPH aboard his mobility scooter.

Eventually police had to drive behind the pensioner with their lights on in order to escort him safely out of the tunnel.

Unsurprisingly mobility scooters and pedestrians are prohibited from using the link, but the man said he was unaware that he was committing an offence and police ultimately decided not to charge him.

Being a Tuesday Margaret Mills was back with me and was also looking at someone else in trouble with the law.

The individual concerned was at the other end of the age scale – 16 in fact – well at least that was his age in 1859 when he was charged with breaking into the house next door to where he lived, and stealing a gold watch.

It seems that his legal defence were rather devoid of reasons for his actions, but claimed that these were due to his being lead astray by reading lurid and sensational literature.

Probably fairly common for anyone of his age, I would suspect.

Anyway you can listen again here to what Margaret had to say on this subject: –

See you again next week I hope,
Scott
