The UK has been home to some of the biggest TV shows in the world over the years, showcasing amazing scenery, and exciting history. The great thing about this is that for the TV lovers out there, there’s so much to see in our local vicinity, making it easy to indulge our obsession with the small screen.

If you’ve always loved a TV program and thought, “wow, I’d love to go and see that area,” then you’re in luck because there are lots of shows where you can do just that.

Outlander – Scotland

Outlander” brought the scenic Scottish glens to life on our screens as well as complicated romances and political unrest. With scenes shot around Scotland, there are so many wonderful sites to see when following the trail of “Outlander,” and it’s a fantastic way to discover this beautiful country.

Take an “Outlander” tour and really put yourself in the shoes of the characters as you indulge your love for one of your favorite TV shows.

Poldark – Cornwall

Another historical drama that captivated people around the world, “Poldark” is set in the 18th and 19th century Cornwall.

Just like “Outlander,” it features stunning scenery, and you can see it all yourself with a trip to Cornwall. From the port of Charlestown to Bodmin Moor and St Agnes Head, you can recreate Ross’s adventures while discovering the beauty of this amazing county.

Cornwall holidays are excellent getaways for the family, and of course, you can get your fill of TV scenery as well!

Peaky Blinders – Birmingham/ Liverpool

Here’s where you’re thinking, why Liverpool? The “Peaky Blinders” follows the story of a 20th-century gang in the heart of Birmingham, but many of the scenes were actually shot in Liverpool.

Of course, to understand where the “Peaky Blinders” you’ve got to get a feel for Birmingham itself, but if you want to see scenery such as Tommy’s mansion, then you’ll have to head up to Liverpool.

Either way, you’re sure to have a great day out and find plenty to connect to the TV show.

Downton Abbey – Newbury

Downton Abbey” has become famous throughout the world, putting Highclere Castle on the map as a popular tourist destination. Located near Newbury, Berkshire, this amazing castle is as beautiful in real life as it is on the TV screen and is well worth a visit.

With lots of shooting locations around the area, you can take in as much “Downton Abbey” as you can possibly handle, and it’s a great way to discover the English countryside.

Whether you dress in the period costume is up to you, but there are lots you can see to try and recreate this fantastic TV show.

Vera – Newcastle

If Downton isn’t really your style, then you can head up to Newcastle to check out the home of iconic TV detective, Vera.

Another hugely popular TV show, a “Vera” tour can guide you around the beautiful city of Newcastle and allow you to follow in the footsteps of the lovable Vera.

Northern Ireland

Fan of Game of Thrones? Then Northern Ireland is not to be missed. The Game of Thrones tour from Belfast departs 7 days per week and visits some of the most beautiful locations on the planet. HBO used well known local beauty spots along the stunning coastal route which offer breath taking backdrops and scenery, walk in the footsteps of the cast and crew of the famous show and get dressed up with the props and let your imagination run wild. The tour also visits the Giant’s Causeway, unofficially voted the 8th wonder of the world.
