We’ve been playing Chris Slanton’s recent single That Was Never The Way … here on Phoenix FM and we caught up with Chris to talk about his music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I was born and now I live on Earth. Since my childhood I knew that I’d sing and make music. However, as it usually happens, before I could record my first song I had to work a lot. I even worked as an electrician and a TV director’s assistant. I travel a lot and I try to make music every time I have a possibility to do so.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

When I was around 10 years old.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

All of them. And I still listen to all new music I can see trending.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

I believe it’s pointless to describe any music without listening to the music itself. You just have to listen to it, and I really recommend to do it minimum 5 times in different time of day before you judge a song.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I recorded and released an album, “Online”, with two singles from it: “Always Me! Always You!” and “But I Cannot Lose You”. My last single “That Was Never The Way …” was released a year ago.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Usually I monitor the Official Singles UK Chart and BBC Radio 1 playlists. I wouldn’t say they influence me, I just looking for new trends to be aware of them.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

I’d like to work with Grimes and Kylie Minogue.

What are your plans for the future?

Time will tell.

You can find out more about Chris on his official website.
