Standon Calling at home this Saturday!

To celebrate what would have been an epic 15th birthday party edition of Standon Calling this coming weekend (23-26th July), festival organisers will be hosting a jam-packed programme of entertainment online on Saturday 25th July. The event, in partnership with the festival’s local charity partner, Hertford-based Mudlarks, will kick off at midday.

Expect live DJ performances, family entertainment, yoga, a burger cookalong, messages from some iconic Standon Calling contributors and much more. Including, of course the beloved Standon Calling Dog Show – with prizes from the festival’s dogs’ partner and natural pet food brand, Barking Heads. And it wouldn’t be Standon Calling without the annual Costume Parade! Set to be kicked off in style by the Pandemonium Drummers, there are also plenty of 2021 festival prizes up for grabs in the Best Dressed competition.

Festival founder Alex Trenchard:

We’re really excited to welcome everyone who can join us this Saturday for Standon Calling at Home. A mini festival-in-a-day from your home! It feels great to be able to mark the weekend with an event like this and makes us all the more energised to put on the very best show we can for all of our amazing audience in 2021.’

See full programme for Standon Calling at Home on Saturday 25th July below.

Sadly, as with all festivals this summer, Standon Calling 2020 as originally planned had to be cancelled due to the impact of the covid-19 crisis.

The festival would have hosted live music and DJ acts including Primal Scream, Bombay Bicycle Club, Hot Chip, Maribou State, Craig David TS5, Sister Sledge, Ella Eyre, Everything Everything, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Grandmaster Flash to name just a few. As well as a full family entertainment programme, comedy and talks, a wellbeing and pamper zone and much more.

Recently the festival ran its first crowdfunding drive to help it survive the cancellation of the 2020 event. Their £50,000 target was smashed thanks to the generosity of the amazing Standon Calling audience, with the total currently sitting just shy of 90k.
