As I write this the cricket season has restarted and England have already lost several wickets to the West Indies – let’s hope there’s a happier ending there (for England fans!) by the time this goes to print.
Our cricket show 98 Not Out is definitely going from strength to strength. Hosts Daren Mootoo and Brett Sanders have had some great interviews over the last few weeks with ex-England legends, including Gladstone Small, Liam Plunkett, Allan Lamb and David Gower.
Last week’s show featured TV & radio commentator Ebony Rainford-Brent who talked about her career on the field and winning the World Cup with England in both the 50 over and 20 over formats.
The show also featured our new reporter Georgie Heath who chatted to Liam Plunkett – another World Cup winner who was a key part of the England squad that won the trophy for the first time last year.
Daren and Brett have also got behind Dunblane Cricket Club’s appeal to buy a pitch for their junior cricketers.
You can hear the show live – which has recently been expanded to two hours – every Thursday at 6pm and all editions are also available to listen to again at phoenixfm.com.
*** Phoenix FM is delighted to be hosting Saint Francis Hospice’s Big Orange Quiz once again this year. Because of the current social distancing guidelines, this year’s quiz will be a virtual one! Our presenters Steve Davis and Ian Leigh will be introducing the questions on Friday 28 August from 7.30pm, and 100% of the funds raised will support local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. For more information visit www.sfh.org.uk/quiz.
