PHOENIX SPORT 20/6/20

In the immortal words of the Two Ronnies it was a ‘packed programme’ this week. In fact the busiest three hours I’ve had in the studio since before lockdown, as we saw the return of English football behind closed doors in the Premier League and EFL Championship.

It was certainly a day to remember for Brighton & Hove Albion, who won a Premier League fixture for the first time this decade and gave their survival hopes a massive boost by completing a double over Arsenal.

A day of celebration too for Bayern Munich, who secured the German Bundesliga title but a sad one for bottom club SC Paderborn, whose relegation was confirmed.

And we had a busy day of racing including the climax of Royal Ascot, with the legendary Frankie Dettori ending the festival on a high with a 150-1 treble.

But I still found time to include plenty of great music. Here is this week’s playlist:

Doobie Brothers – China Grove
Rolling Stones – Living In A Ghost Town
Blondfire – Climb

Squeeze – Pulling Mussels From A Shell
Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott – A Good Day Is Hard To Find
Kooks – She Moves In Her Own Way
Elton John – I’m Still Standing
Erasure – Hey Now (Think I Got A Feeling)
Slow Readers Club – Killing Me
Alphabeat – Fascination
Gerry Rafferty – Baker Street
Blossoms – If You Think This Is Real Life
Ash – Burn Baby Burn
Mark Butcher – Start Again
Regard & Raye – Secrets
Queen – Another One Bites The Dust
Tim Burgess – Laurie
Screens – The Boy Who Waved At Trains
Niall Horan – Black And White
Whispers – It’s A Love Thing
Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande – Rain On Me

Spiller feat Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)
Ellie Goulding – Power
Elvis Costello and the Attractions – Watching The Detectives
Leigh Luscious – Forever
Korgis – Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime
Vix20 – Tron Takes The Train
Blanks – Silly People
Eric Prydz – Call On Me
Change – The Glow of Love
