This week we went back to 1937 with Billie Holiday’s “They Can’t Take That Away from Me” and I played a track from 16 yr old Brenda Lee’s 1961 album ‘Emotions’. A few from the 70’s and 80’s including Gladys Knight & The Pips and Aretha Franklin, then right the way through to 2020.

I found the story of Oscar winning actress Gloria Grahame a great read. She played Ado Annie in the 1955 film of Oaklahoma! (I Cain’t Say No), but it was her personal life that surprised me. She was married 4 times, but her 4th husband had been her step-son as he was the son of her 2nd husband! That’s soap-opera gossip worthy – although this all went on in the 60’s & 70’s.
