Covid 19 is the word on everyone’s lips at the moment and we are all on the lookout for signs and symptoms and doing our best to stay safe by staying indoors and only making essential trips out.
The World Health Organisation has issued guidelines on what symptoms to look out for which are fever, fatigue and a dry cough, other indicators are headaches, shortness of breath, general aches and pains and a sore throat. A few people have reported diarrhoea, nausea and a runny nose.
Doctors are now getting a clearer idea of the symptoms as more are being diagnosed, there may also be digestive symptoms such as loss of smell and taste and also loss of appetite.
These symptoms affect almost half of patients, even a loss of smell or taste or even an eye infection such as conjunctivitis could be sign of infection,so the advice is to immediately self isolate.
There are many symptoms that are the same as a cold or flu. Coughing is an automatic reaction to expel irritants from the lungs and isn’t necessarily a sign of Coronavirus, even if the symptoms are persistent. Particularly this time of year when there are many other irritants that can cause allergies such as hay fever.
The best advice is,if in doubt, stay home until the symptoms gave gone away, if the condition worsens do consult your doctor.
