We’ve played out Rabiya’s latest track on our most recent Rising Stars show … – and we caught up with her to talk about her love of music and her inspirations.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a 13 year old singer/songwriter/performer.

I have been a globetrotter all my life due to my parents’ work, having lived in India, Singapore, France and the UAE. I now live in Houston, Texas.

When did you start to develop a passion for music?

I started singing when I was 5 years old. I’ve been showcasing my singing and songwriting ever since.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Some of my favourite artists who influence my work include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Birdy, Audrey Mika, Tate McRae and Adele.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

My debut single 80s Baby is out now on all streaming services including Spotify.

I have also recorded covers of songs from artists such as Frank Sinatra and Lana Del Rey which you can find on my YouTube channel.

How would you describe your sound?

Catchy, indie vocal-led pop. My perfect blend of captivating lyrics and catchy, pop vocals will have you turning up the volume!

What are your plans for the future?

I spend my free time singing, writing lyrics, and playing the piano with hopes of foraying into dancing and acting. I also hope to get on those big TV screens in New York one day!
