National League Round-up: Saturday 22nd February

Dagenham & Redbridge yesterday gained three vital points in their fight to stay in the National League, as they scored an excellent 2-0 win over play-off hopefuls Solihull Moors at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

First-half goals from Mitch Brundle and Angelo Balanta meant that Daryl McMahon’s men moved up a place to 19th in the table.

In the National League South Chelmsford City’s had to settle for a point against promotion-chasing Slough Town after going in front through Joseph Chidyausiku on the hour mark.

Ryan Bird’s equaliser six minutes later ensured a final score of 1-1 and that the Clarets stayed 11th in the standings.

My full report on this match can be seen here.

Concord Rangers slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Hemel Hempstead Town, for whom James Dobson’s wind-assisted goal just before the interval proved to be the only one of the match.

The Beach Boys stay in 14th place.

Billericay Town moved up a place to 18th in the league as they made the long trip to high-flying Weymouth and picked up a point in a goalless draw.

Phoenix’s Billericay Town reporter Leigh was there and his full report can be seen here.

But Braintree Town slipped into the relegation zone as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat at bottom club Hungerford Town.

Goals either side of half-time by Joe Tomlinson and Matt Jones meant that the Iron are now in 21st place on goal difference.
