National League Round-up: Saturday 8th February

It was the late late show at the Chigwell Construction Stadium as Dagenham & Redbridge recovered from going a goal behind a minute from time to pick up a 1-1 draw against Stockport County in the National League.

Liam McAlinden looked to have given the visitors their first victory of 2020 with his 89th minute opener.

But with three minutes of added time played Chike Kandi fired home to secure a point for the Daggers, who stay one point clear of the relegation zone in 20th place.

With Chelmsford City and Concord Rangers both in FA Trophy action there were just two games of local interest in the National League South, one of which saw Billericay Town face the difficult task of a trip to leaders Wealdstone.

And the home side – managed by former Ricay boss Dean Brennan and who are now seven points clear at the top of the table – ended up 3-0 winners with goals from ex-Town players Moses Emmanuel and Ross Lafayette, the latter of whom helped himself to a brace.

Meanwhile Braintree Town also suffered a defeat on the road, going down 1-0 away to Maidstone United for whom Justin Amaluzor scored the only goal of the game early in the first half.

The NLS standings for the four Essex clubs in the division are unchanged following yesterday’s games with Chelmsford in 11th place, Concord in 13th, Billericay 17th and Braintree 18th.
