Diets are often on our minds at this time of year. Scientists are now suggesting that diets often don’t work as we aren’t taking into account our individual weight anchor, which is different for every one of us, and is the weight our body naturally reverts to.

People can lose weight and keep it off by being aware of your body’s ideal weight. You don’t need to count calories either!

According to the researchers you should be decreasing your insulin levels by decreasing sugar in your diet and eating healthy meals two or three times  per day with no snacking or dieting.

The discovery was made after looking at dieters who put weight back on immediately when they stopped dieting. There’s emerging evidence that everyone has their own individual weight setting, and you can drift up or down from that point. You tend to be anchored to  that weight. Dieting only takes you further away from that anchor sending you catapulting back to your starting point within a short space of time.

This would  mean a lifestyle change rather than a diet. Some diets may well work on the basis that they are lifestyle changes, but many fad diets will just send your weight rocketing back up.

We should be eating healthy foods and leaving out fast foods and junk foods. The Mediterranean diet is recommended yet again!
